In the world outside, some odd things were happening. The Angels, always so methodical, so implacable in their fight against mankind, had paused. The mass of sexual energy being put off by Shinji and his lovers was so intense that it confused and distracted the alien attackers.
Uncertain as to what this strange, tense, perverse power that had appeared on Earth was, or what it meant, the Angels held back their attacks, trying to grasp something for which they were ill equipped to understand.
