With in the core of Unit-1, Shinji slept on as the outside world tried to rescue him. He had been absorbed by the behemoth after his battle with The 14th Angel, where he had synchronized with his Evangelion reached 400%. Now taken into the core, he was awaiting to be rebirthed into the outside world thanks in some part to the efforts of NERV. As the minutes dragged on and Shinji neared his release, something strange was happening to his genetic code. His DNA was merging with strands from the Eva causing his adolescent body to change.

“Get it started,” Misato ordered Maya as they prepared to get Shinji out of the Evangelion. The Magi came to life, sending data flying into the bio-machine causing it to shake and rumble. Everyone watched with crossed fingers as the entry plug slid out and opened. LCL poured out onto the floor, momentarily covering everyone’s feet in the pinkish blood smelling slope. A instant of fear seized Misato, when she saw not a hair of her Shinji. Then s solid shaped fell out and skidded across the floor.

“Shinji!” Misato screamed as she ran up to the boy. He was curled up in a ball and completely nude, as well as covered in LCL. None of these things stopped Misato from hugging his naked, slimy body. It was as she was holding him that she noticed that he seemed taller. She dismissed it and wrapped her arms around his back.

“I’m back,” Shinji mumbled as he became aware of his surroundings. He felt weird and tired as though he had run a marathon. A strange tingle went up his spine as he felt vertigo. Misato had her hands clamped behind Shinji’s back, then she felt her hands being forced apart. She watched as Shinji started to expand around her. Soon her arms couldn’t even hold onto the boy and she let go.

“What the?” Ritsuko muttered as she watched the boy they had rescued grow from five-feet to ten, then twenty-feet, Thirty-feet, fifty-feet. Ritsuko grabbed Misato and pulled her away, just as Shinji’s mass filled up the large room. His shoulders pressed against the ceiling as he continued to grow. Cracks started to form as the huge form of Shinji filled the room. Shinji crawled to the platform, where the Eva was stored and sat down in it, if he had stayed in the small room, the whole roof would of came down on him.

Now sitting in the large holding bay where the Eva was meant to stand, Shinji looked at all the tiny people assembled around him. Some looked at him in wonder, others in fear. But Gendo watched his only son with a small smirk hidden behind his hands.

“It has begun,” was all he said.
