Connie decided to dump the terran into the nearest alley and leave him there. Connie didn't know where was that Starking and Hawkwind Enterprises place was. If she did, she still would dump the terran into the alley. For one thing, if her mother caught her carrying the terran that she was supposed to eat, her mother would eat the terran boy instead. She wasn't sure if she could sneak the boy out of the holding area without being spotted for another thing. But, she had to try.
Connie picked up John easily and carried him outside his cell. She closed the cell and locked it. Then, she carried John to the nearest room, which was the front room. Connie could hear her mother and that man talking in another room. As quickly and silently as she could, Connie half carried and half dragged John to the door that led outside. There, she spotted a nearby empty alley and put John in it. Then, Connie dressed John akwardly and then was gone from the alley. John was pretty well hidden from the street, and nobody would see him unless a person came into the alley.
John woke up five minutes later, finding himself next to a sizable dumpster and dressed in his clothes. He could hardly believe that he was still alive. Why didn't that ctarl-ctarl ate him?
'Maybe she didn't find me delicious enough' John thought to himself. 'or maybe she doesn't eat kids....anyway, where shall I go now?'
John looked around and saw nobody in the alley. John rushed out of the alley and headed for Pete's Pit.
Pete's Pit was a dive that gave other dives a bad name. John had made friends with the owner Pete 2 years ago, before John was at that sweat shop. Pete's Pit was just 5 blocks away from Starwind and Hawking Enterprises, although John didn't know that. John would go there and get a room for the night. In the morning, John would figure out what to do next. He knew he couldn't stay in the city for long without attrating the attention of Jerome and his crew. He would have to move out of the city and start his new life.
Pete's Pit was pretty much closed down by the time John got there. He knocked on the door and Pete himself answered. Pete was a thin terran with a device over his right eye that allowed him to 'see'. The device was a new addition to Pete's handsome features.
"John, my boy!" said Pete. "it's been ages! Where have you been?"
"I would prefer not to dicuss it just now" said John. "could I get a room for the night?"
"Of course, of course" said Pete, waving John inside. John went inside the bar. Pete took a look around, then closed the door to the street.
-------------
Farfellas.
The name of the star that the Outlaw Star was hidden by 'Hot Ice' Hilda so long ago. Since the battle for the XGP, the Farfellas System had remained quiet. Nobody ever visited such a remote and out-of-the-way system. That's why it made a perfect hiding place.
There was a ship in orbit around Farfellas. A certain golden-colored ship that belonged to the McDougal brothers. Ronald and Harry McDougall was very much alive....at least Ronald was. He was still in that tube of liquid, healing himself after what happened at the Galactic Leyline. Harry was now the Shangi-La's main computer. Or at least a version of Harry. Harry had downloaded his personattly to the computer before the Galactic Leyline. Harry the computer was just as ruthless as the real Harry had been, if not more so.
Ron needed time to heal. How long he needed to heal was hard to say. Ron's body was still intact...barely. The fall that Ron took had broken all of his ribs and almost split him in two. Ron had barely survived, and Harry decided to high-tail it to a remote system to let Ron heal.
Another ship came out of Ether-Drive close to the Shangi-La. This ship was smaller and looked like a ball made of silver.
"You two certainly made it hard for me to find you" said the pilot of the other ship.
