Paige, Connie and Jim were going to the sizable lake to swim in. The swimming pool at the mansion was being drained for some unknown reason (something about 'wherks' growing at the bottom of it). Wherks were these super-poisonous fungi that grew at the bottom of lakes and rivers. Somehow, a Wherk's spore had made its way into the swimming pool and the swimming pool was off-limits for several months. If you swam with even one wherk in the pool...you might as well drink sea water. Jim asked if there were any wherks in the lake. Paige had said no, but wherks tend to live deeply in lakes...and they would be in no danger from the fungi. Only certain fish were immune to the toxic wherks.
The lake was 4 miles away, and Jim had no qualms about walking. However, Paige had these hover scooters that the three use to get to the lake. When they got to the lake, it was around mid-day. They stopped at a two-story boathouse, where they met Millie.
"Oh, going for a swim?" asked Millie.
"Yeah" said Connie.
Millie had on a bathing suit too, with her belly poking out. Where had she gotten the suit was a mystery to Paige.
"You know me" said Millie. "I keep a pair of these inside the boathouse"
There were 4 boats in the lighthouse, and all of them had names.
The 'Crazy Horse' was the smallest boat of them all and was about the size of a rowboat. It was named after a warrior chief on Earth...although, Jim couldn't tell where and when this warrior lived.
'Sanity-in-Question' was the only boat named by Paige. The boat was a kayak for two. It was a gift by a friend of the Clanclans.
'The Jilan Konkon' was the pride and joy of the Clanclans. It was a yacht-sized boat with 3 levels and a ballroom big enough to hold a fair-sized party. It was named after a legendary sailor that lived on the homeworld 1,000s of years ago.
'Lanikan's Folly' was the same size as the 'Jilan Konkon', but with two levels and no ballroom. Lanikan Ponpon was a maker of ships back in "the good old days", but not very good at it. The boat was called that because it leaked in a certain place all the time.
"Where's the 'Cheetah'?" asked Paige.
"Kyle took it" said Millie. "he had to get to the other side of the lake in a hurry"
The Cheetah was a speedboat.
"Want to come swimming with us?" asked Connie to Millie.
"Oh, I thought you were never going to ask" said Millie. "and bring the fishing poles. There's some good fish in this lake, you know"
