“Now miss Aisha, would you mind telling me the company you were working at when you were exposed to the chemical that, let us say, made you very stretchy in the crotch.” Minos was outside of the living room; he was standing in the small kitchen behind it, getting drinks for Aisha and Gene. Aisha looked over at the man suspiciously; something about him was making the hairs on her back stand up. He seemed too refined and cultured to have met Gene in the Rose’s Inn, he seemed like the type of man that spent more on clothes in a month then Aisha did in a year. Whatever his agenda was, Aisha would have to play along for now until his real reasons were identified.
“ It was that big pharmaceutical company Diatell.” Aisha answered curtly. She crossed her arms over her chest and looked strait at Minos, she wanted to see his reaction when she told him the name of the company.
“DIATELL!” Gene screamed from behind Aisha’s back. The unexpected scream made Aisha nearly jump out of her skin. She looked back and Gene and sneered, what was the deal with him?
“Aisha, do you have any idea who Diatell is?” Gene was suddenly sober and looked freak out. Scrunching her face up, Aisha puzzled over the company name.
“They seemed like any other business,” Aisha said with a shrug. Minos handed her a glass of beer and she happily chugged it down, one of the only bad thing she could think of when she was holding her Tiger inside her was that she’d have to cut down on the booze. She was just going to have to cut lose and do all the things that could hurt her Tiger when she was separated him.
“That’s because you never read the paper,” gene growled as he grabbed a beer from Minos and down it in under a second, if things were as bad as he though they were, getting drunk was his best option.
“Like you can read,” Aisha scoffed.
“Listen, this is serious. A man named Ivan Xiusion runs the company. He’s so bad that even the Kei pirates avoid messing with him. He’s responsible for dozens of ‘disappearances’ of competitors and enemies. It’s rumored that he has also been experimenting on humans and is in the middle of rewriting our genetic structure.” Gene was gravely serious and was not acting like his usual laidback self.
“They why don’t the cops take him in, isn’t genetic manipulation illegal?” Aisha blinked several times, for some reason she was feeling kind of dizzy.
“He’s bribed all the major heads of the military and judges in this portion of the galaxy. He could shot someone on live television and get away with it. That bastard is one slick devil.” At Gene’s comment, Minos gave a dry chuckle.
“Now he’s not that bad, Ivan is just a little unorthodox. He’s certainly not the devil.” Gene looked at Minos in shock and was about to say something, but before he could, he collapsed face first to the floor. Aisha stared at Gene’s slumbering form and rose to her feet. Instantly vertigo set in and Aisha fell to one knee. She looked up at Minos in disgust.
“You drugged the beer,” she said furiously.
“Yes, I used my personal date rape drug that I had been saving for that cute waitress at the bar, but I’d much rather bring you and your comrade home.” Minos looked down at Aisha curiously and lifted his foot so he could place his heel on Aisha’s forehead.
“When gene gets up, he’ll kick your ass,” Aisha grunted as her vision started to go.
“I’m not interested in the buffoon, I only knocked him out so he wouldn’t be a bother. What I really want are you, she and he.” Minos applied pressure to his heel and Aisha fell flat on the floor.
“He?” Aisha garbled as her body stared to go numb.
“He.” As Aisha lost her consciousness, Minos left her and went to her room where Melfina and her Tiger were sleeping. Aisha knew who ‘he’ was and she silently swore that if anything happened to Jim, there would be hell to pay. Then everything went dark.
