This choice: She shrinks Keiichi with a potion | Go Back Chapter 8: Shades of "The Princess Bride" (ID #537082) an addition by: Past Member 'geewhiz' More by this author "Oh, Keiiichi!" Urd cried in a playful, singsong voice. "Oh no" was the first thought that flashed through the mortal man's mind. He knew that voice; it meant that in just a matter of moments, his life was about to become a lot more miserable.
Urd sidled into the room with a blatantly fake innocent look on her face. "Hey there, whatcha doing?" she inquired. "Reading about last night's race." Keiichi responded, holding up the sports section. "By the way, thank you so much for shorting out the electricity last night with one of your little experiments. I had wanted to watch that race for over a year, but really, I'm happier just to read about it instead."
"Oh, really!" Urd explained, again in that obvious voice ("Really, who is she fooling?" thought Keiichi.) "You're too mean and sarcastic. You know what? I bet you're thirsty. Here, have some tea!"
So that was it. She had spiked the tea with something, he just knew it. Keiichi had been on the wrong side of Urd's pranks enough times to realize when she was coming. Sure enough, as soon as the goddess laid the two cups down, one for each of them, she immediately pushed him to drink. "C'mon. Let's drink them together! What the hell?"
He'd play along... for a while. "Okay!" Keiichi exclaimed, pretending to be completely oblivious. The two drank at the same time, although Keiichi made sure that not a drop touched his tongue. Feigning a sipping motion, he put down the cup, forced out a refreshed noise and said "Man, that was good tea!"
As he predicted, Urd watched him intently for a few moments, as if waiting for something. When nothing happened, she leaned in closer to look at his cup. "Wait a minute, you didn't..."
"OH MY GOD A DISTRACTION!" Keiichi shouted, pointing into the hallway. "Where?" As Urd looked the other way, Keiichi switched the two drinks and reverted to an exaggerated innocent pose. When Urd turned around, she immediately felt something was wrong. Looking down at her drink, it seemed fuller than before. "So he switched them, huh?" Urd thought. She looked up and smiled back at the mortal. Suddenly, she shot a small jolt of electricity close to, but not at, Keiichi. As he flinched, she quickly switched the two cups back.
Recovering from the shock, Keiichi again realized that his drink was too full. "Hey. Urd, I think Bell's calling you!" he tried. "Nice try, Keiichi, but I'm not falling for that." she responded. "Alright then!" With that, he brazenly switched the cups right in front of Urd's eyes. Surprised by his boldness, Urd recovered and then smiled back, switching the cups again. This in turn caused Keiichi to smile in response... and switch the cups again.
And again. And again. And again...
Without warning, the two suddenly broke out into a flurry of movement, moving the cups around the table at lightning speeds. Their arms were blurs, and no one could tell any more which cup was which. "You think a mortal like you can keep up with a great goddess like me?!" Urd taunted. "No way, Urd! I'm not even thirsty!" Keiichi cried back.
With no one having much control of their arms any more, the two suddenly smashed both their arms on the table, sending it sky high and causing its contents to fly into the air. Both cups of tea flipped over in midair, and the contents of each cup fell into both Keiichi and Urd's gaping mouths.
Scalded by the boiling tea, the two winced hard. "Aw, shit, that's hot!" Urd cried. "Jeez, Urd that tasted terrible!" Keiichi cried. Suddenly, the two looked up, realizing that one of them had ingested the tainted tea. Which one? Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
