Both duelists drew their cards, Mai frown slightly when she saw that she hadn’t drawn a single Harpy Lady. Her hand was made up with only trap and magic cards. It looked like she was going to have to take some damage from this punk before she could dish it out. Before she could tell him that she was going to pass, the Pharaoh spoke up.
“Don’t just stand there, us the trap card ‘Web of truths’,” the Pharaoh screamed at the back of her head, wincing from the loudness of the order, Mai responded to the ancient king in her mind like she had been instructed.
“What will that do?” Mai asked. Web of truths was a card that destroyed any attacking monster and added their defense points to a played monster, but it cost the duelist a thousand life points. Mai had no monster on the field, so the defense points had nowhere to go.
“If you use ‘Delay Reaction’ you’ll see what will happen,” the smug quality of the Pharaoh voice convinced Mai play the risky move. She put down the two cards and ended her turn
“I play Giant Moth!” Weevil squealed as the giant green moth attacked Mai’s vulnerable life points. When the bug neared, a giant web jumped out and destroyed the overgrown pest. Mai saw that her life points were safe, but it had cost her a thousand life points to play.
“Now what?” Mai thought at the voice in her head.
“Just send draw a card and see,” again the Pharaoh used that smug tone that said that everything was okay. Mai promised herself that if she lost the duel because of this guy, she’d evict him from her head. Mai’s spirits rose when she saw that her next monster was Harpy Lady, she summoned the feathered monster. When the monster appeared, the magic card Delayed Reaction started to glow. Mai watched as the magic card disappeared and her Harpy Lady’s attack points grew to more then her opponents life points.
“When you destroyed Giant Moth, its defense points were postponed in being given to your monster by Delayed Reaction. Now you have the defense points from Giant Moth added to your Harpy Lady,” The Pharaoh explained.
“Harpy Lady attack!” Mai screamed with a smile. That Pharaoh had really come through in helping her beat Weevil. This arrangement could just work.
“NOOOOO!” Weevil cried as his unprotected life points were knocked to zero. He fell to his knees in disbelief at how easily he had been beaten
“Told you it would work. So, are you going to eat the greasy brat?” The Pharaoh asked, not bothered by whatever Mai decided. Mai tapped her finger on her chin and thought about it. If she absorbed any more additions to her body, her clothes were going to burst and she wasn’t that hungry after Yugi. But Weevil was a jerk that no one was going to miss and she would hate to not let the creep at least see her beautiful insides before digesting him.
