So it is decided, then. Jean walks a few meters away from the circus entrance, toward the shadows of a nearby building. He does not want anyone to see him using his new invention. Having reached the building, away from the crowds, he looks at the big circus and people getting in there. Jean swears that he´s going in there as well, for the sake of finding the girl. But Jean knows that his whole plan is ridiculous. He just saw the girl for the first time, and now he would go that far just in order to meet her? Thinking about that, Jean has to smile and shake his head. Yes, he really is in love, and a man would do anything for the girl of his dreams. Jean carefully opens his pocket, taking out the shrink ray gun. The device is quite small itself, just as Jean intended, since he doesn´t want this thing to be too bulky. He aims with the gun at himself, taking a deep breath.
"Let´s hope this will work..."
A white ray emanates from the gun and hits Jean, causing him to fall onto his knees. He´s gasping for air as he feels a change inside his body, and without realizing it first, the shrinking process starts. The pain Jean felt is fading away after a few seconds, and looking around him, he realizes that he is in a completely different world: giant-Paris! Every single building he sees is now ridiculously huge, putting the Tower of Babel to shame and making them seem like modern skyscrapers. He can´t really tell how big a human is compared to him, since he can only see them in the distance at the circus entrance, but he guesses that they must be monstrously big, unlike any living thing a normal person could encounter in the world.
"so the gun worked! Great!"
Jean quickly runs away from the building he´s standing next to, running toward the circus in the distance. He has to be careful, though, since the small gaps between the paving stones are no longer small, but that´s just normal if one is now 1/2 of an inch tall. Despite the situation being hellishly dangerous because of the masses of people walking by and the thus the threat of getting crushed, Jean manages to avoid any close contact with the sole of the boots stomping down all the time. Looking up during this dangerous run, Jean can finally see how big a normal person now is. And as he thought they´re incomparable with any living being he knows from the real world, they seem like gigantic gods and goddesses, and he seems like an insignificant bug - or an even smaller flea.
As Jean looks up into the skies again, he barely notices the face of the man who rejected him earlier. Hehe...he has no idea that he´s gonna get in the circus despite having no money. Passing those many boots belonging to dozens of persons, Jean runs into the circus. In there, he can´t see anything of the circus itself, because all these giants and giantesses are in his sight, preventing him from seeing anything else. But unfortunately, he is able to notice that it is terribly loud in there, mostly because of the babbling of the giants. Now how is he going to find the girl...
Jean is thinking about how to find the beauty he has been following, he suddenly feels something in his chest. It´s not a painful feeling, though, it´s just...strange. Grabbing his chest, Jean has no idea what this feeling is, but surprisingly though, he gets an idea where the girl is! Jean has no idea how this is possible, at least he can´t explain it with rationalism - something he believes in since he´s an inventor and some sort of scientist. Did this feeling in his heart have something to do with the sudden clue on where the girl is? Frankly, he doesn´t care, he just smiles and starts running again. He somehow knows where to go, and after several minutes, he reaches a floor, with several doors being in the distance. Jean thinks that this must be some sort of "refugium" or resting-place for the circus troupe. Does this mean that girl actually is part of the circus troupe? Anyway, Jean is happy to see that there are no people around him, thus the situation is a little safer for him. Again, something tells him which of the doors is the one he has to go through. So he´s walking toward one of these gigantic doors, and he sees that it is closed. No problem, since the gap under the door is big enough for Jean to squeeze through. Moments later, he finds himself on a red carpet, inside a plain room. There isn´t much furniture in there, but the ones jean can see are nicely decorated, as well as the walls. But then. Then he sees a huge table and an equally huge chair, and the person sitting there is the girl he´s been searching for! Jean smiles, he´s just so happy. It appears that his heart lead him here...he honestly can´t believe this mumbo-jumbo, but he is here, only meters away from the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. But he realizes that the girl has a sad expression on her face, and she´s looking down at a bowl of fruits on the table.
"Why is she so sad?" Jean whispers. He shortly considers growing back to his normal size, but he can´t, for 2 reasons: how would the girl feel if a boy appears in her room out of nothing and out of a sudden? She would be terrified, that´s for sure, and Jean wants to meet her in a nicer way, and he thinks she wouldn´t be scared by a tiny boy. The second reason for letting go of his attempt to grow himself back is the fact that the gun is low on energy right now, so it will take some time for it to charge, thus he can´t use the reverse. The only thing left to do for him is running toward the girl and getting her attention. His heart is beating faster as he starts running, overjoyed that he finally is about to meet her in person.
