This choice: seeing Nadia´s tears, Grandis finally shows remorse and kindness | Go Back

  Chapter 35: Even the blackest heart has a little light   (ID #298857)

“Please, let him go!” Nadia begged with tears starting to well up in her eyes.
“Nope, he’ll make a fine pet freak. Maybe when I get bored of him I can sell him to a freak show for a few extra bucks.” Nadia giggled evilly, she had the Blue Water and that little twerp and all she had needed to do was swallow. She stopped chuckling when her throat started to throb, whatever that freak had done in her throat was hurting like a bitch. Another reason why he deserved to stay in her gut was for hurting her neck. Oh yes, she was going to enjoy keeping him in her stomach until further notice.
“You can’t do that, he’s a living person!” Nadia’s wail did nothing to sway Grandis. She just rolled her eyes and tugged at her bindings, She could feel them starting to loosen.
“Whine to someone who cares. I’m sure the Dogboy or Fishman at your circus would love to date you.” Yes, just keep her distracted for a few more minutes; she almost had her right arm free. She could get away from the girl and deliver the Blue Water to her employer and have a new pet to show for her days work. Everything was going golden for her.
“He’s special to me, he’s the only one that really understands how I feel.” Grandis was only half listening by now, one more pull and she would be free from this girls annoying prattle. I mean really, she should be thanking her for getting this little freak off her hands; he was no different then a hundred different men other then his size. So why was this girl fighting so hard to get him out of her. None of that mattered now because Grandis was one sharp tug away from freedom.
“How can someone like you understand what it feels like to be with someone that makes you feel alive and content?” Grandis stopped struggling and felt a memory come pushing into her mind
<Flashback>
“How can someone like you understand what it feels like to be with someone that makes you feel alive and content?” A young Grandis asked her mother. Her long time boyfriend had asked her for her hand in marriage and she had accepted. Only one problem, he was a commoner and she was a high noble. Her parents had been distraught over their relationship, but had let it slide thinking it was just another meaningless fling, but now their daughter wanted to marry this worthless peasant.
“I refuse to have any daughter of mine marry some worthless member of the common herd!” Her mothers sharp retort silenced Grandis for a minute, but she refused to bend to her mothers will. She loved her man and wouldn’t let him go because he was of a smaller standing then her. She would be with him no matter what it cost her.
“But I love him.” Her mother snorted at the comment. In the life of the wealthy and aristocratic, love had very little to do with marriage. Grandis’s own parents had been married under an agreement between two noble families; they didn’t even meet until the wedding day. In the life that Grandis was living, love was nearly none existent.
“There is nothing you can say that can convince me not to marry him!” With that Grandis started out of the room, but one last cry from her mother stopped Grandis in her tracks.
“If you walk out that door, you are no daughter of mine.” Grandis’s decision would send her life into utter turmoil when her fiancé dumped her upon finding out she had no money and her family disowned her. Grandis followed her heart and walked away from her mother for good.
<End flashback>
Grandis glanced down at the girl crying in her lap. Something inside of her was starting to hurt and it wasn’t coming from her stomach or neck. What would she have done if her parents had forcefully separated her from her then love? Would she have sit back or fought them tooth and nail? She knew the answer, just as she knew what she had to do.
“God, I hate sob stories,” she mumbled out. She clutched her stomach with her abdominal muscles. She groaned a little as she felt her stomach rumble and vibrate painfully as it moved food up to her esophagus. She felt a hard object enter the bottom of her throat and she knew she had him. Relaxing her throat, she pushed him up past the curve of her throat and onto her tongue. She opened her mouth and stuck her tongue out, on the tip of the slimy red muscle was an unconscious Jean with the Blue Water tied to his back. Nadia had felt the stomach moving around under her, so she looked up with blurry red eyes at Grandis. When she saw the bundle sitting on the tip of the outstretched tongue, she cried out his name.
“Jean!” Her hand snatched the boy up and cradled him in her bosom like a mother would a baby. Her eyes sparkled with love and happiness as she looked down at his tiny abused body. She would apologize to him when he woke up and beg for his forgiveness, she had failed him in so many ways. She hadn’t kept Grandis down, told the thief that he was inside her and failed to stop her from swallowing. Now with tears of happiness, she turned to Grandis with perplexity.
“Why?”
“Bah,” Grandis scowled. “I didn’t want that little runt taking advantage of my perfect body. I can’t even imagine what he was doing inside of me, probably something perverted. I never should have taken this job from that masked fruitcake. If he had told me about all you weirdoes then I would of never taken the mission.” Behind Grandis’s cold appearance, she was smiling. She may do bad things, but she wasn’t a bad person just misunderstood.
