And looking at the dark skinned circus girl, she felt that something was different inside her. There was a feeling swelling inside her, a feeling she thought was lost forever. Grandisī unfortunate past with her parents and her husband had made her a cold-hearted lunatic, doing everything in order to get some money. But the bond between the girl and her tiny friend was so strong that even someone like Grandis, someone who had closed his heart long ago, could realize it. Their love was shining with such purity and honesty, unlike anything she has ever experienced. Both of them were ready to risk their lives for each other, as Grandis had experienced when Jean was inside her stomach and Nadia tried to help him get out again. Not only was their love pure, but both of their hearts as well. Nadia...there was no darkness inside her heart. Grandis could only feel kindness and love inside that girlīs heart, and Jean...he was just the same. And she noticed his bravery and adventurous spirit. Yes...Nadia was in fact the girl Grandis always wanted to be. Sharing her feelings with others, especially with the man of her life, and being loved in return. But it was too late for Grandis, her bitterness had made her a psycho no one could take seriously. Or...was there still a chance? Could there still be redemption for her? Could she start a new life, free from the shackles of her tragic past? At that moment, Grandis realized that there might still be a chance. And as she realized that her whole life was not necessarily in vain, something truly unexpected occurred. Grandis...smiled. No, it was not the sort of smile she showed earlier, when she was still acting like a maniac. It was a kind and gentle smile, and she smiled at Nadia and Jean, not only because their love made her think about her own life, but also because seeing Nadia caring for the unconscious Jean was so heartwarming. Thus there was a warmth emanating from Grandis smile.
And as Nadia briefly turned her view away from Jean and towards the red haired lady, she was visibly surprised. Only minutes ago, she had despised that woman like no other person before, but now she was surprised to see that smile that showed an expression of kindness and care for her and Jean.
"Grandis?"
"Nadia...thank you."
"Huh?"
"Thank you for showing me the light again. I...I can finally see..."
Grandis turned away from Nadia, attempting to leave her and Jean via a lift of the Eiffel Tower.
"Well, I gonna have to look for Hanson and Sanson, my good-for-nothing partners. Farewell, Nadia. And take good care of Jean...and Blue Water."
But before Grandis could even take another step, Nadia quickly approached, with Jean still lying unconscious on her right palm. Standing behind Grandis, Nadia felt that she had to say something. She felt that Grandisī change came from deep inside her heart, and she was being honest.
"Grandis, wait!"
Grandis turned her head back to Nadia, a bit surprised.
"I...I donīt know how to say this...but...would you like to join Jean and me?"
"What?"
Grandis was baffled. She could not believe that she just heard these words coming out of Nadiaīs mouth.
"I...I know, it might sound strange, yes, but weīd appreciate your company. You have a good heart, Grandis. Youīre not a bad person at all, I finally realized that. But your heart was being shrouded in sadness and despair, preventing you from seeing the light. And I can see that you can see the light again, the light that shows you the right path."
"Nadia..."
Grandisī smile disappeared. Instead, her mouth was opened slightly, and her eyes were full of confusion, as she could not believe that Nadia was being so kind to her.
"You...youīre saying this after all I did to you and Jean?"
"What you did was wrong. But your heart finally found peace, even if it is but a sudden one."
Nadia said this with a cute smile. A smile Grandis could not resist. She couldnīt help but liking that circus girl she originally treated so badly. Nadia...she was possibly the first person to treat her like a friend in a long time. She looked once again at Nadiaīs right palm, seeing that Jean was still sleeping, with his tiny chest moving up and down so slightly that it was hardly even noticeable. But it was cute, nevertheless.
Nadia and Jean. There was no way she wouldnīt want to go with them. She would finally be able to be happy again. But would Jean think the same way Nadia did? Suddenly, Nadiaīs face turned a bit sad.
"Nadia?"
"Grandis...thereīs something I have to tell you. Jean and I...we want to search for my true origin. You see, the Blue Water is the only hint I have. Itīs the only thing my parents left. I...I never met them."
"Nadia...Iīm so sorry..."
Grandis felt some honest grief. She couldnīt believe that she tried to take away such a precious thing from such a kind girl like Nadia.
"And...and you mentioned someone hired for this job. I know how selfish it sounds, but could you please help us find him or her? I would understand if you said no..."
"Nadia. Iīve made up my mind. Iīm coming with you."
"Really?!"
"Yes. I...I think itīs the least thing I could do to atone for what I have done to you...and Jean."
"Oh Grandis!"
Carefully closing her right hand around Jean, Nadia ran toward Grandis and put her arms around her and hugged her like a long lost friend, with Jean being safe in Nadiaīs right hand. Grandis didnīt move, she just wanted to feel this sign of kindness. Suddenly, she felt like a big sister for Nadia, and she had to smile at that thought.
"Thank you so much Nadia. But will it be okay with Jean? I mean, after I had swallowed him..."
"Donīt worry, Iīll talk to him when he wakes up."
That damn cheerful girl...she really broke the ice surrounding Grandisī heart. And she was so thankful for that. Nadia then "released" Grandis from her sister-like hug. She really felt great. Was that girl...that girl she hurt so terribly within her soul, really being so nice toward her? In any case Grandis was ready to do anything for Nadia and Jean to help them. It was her duty. Yes, she felt new passion for a new task. And it felt so much better than following orders from some mysterious, pompous employer. Now she only had to get Hanson and Sanson to join them as well. They might have been clumsy and annoying sometimes, but they were the closest thing to friends she had in the last couple of years, and she really liked them, despite their flaws.
"Iīm going to ask Hanson and Sanson if they want to join as well. They could be very helpful."
"Sounds like a good idea."
"But first, I think I have to tell you about the man who hired me. If we go find him, he might provide you with answers about your past."
Nadia nodded, then looked down at her right hand again. She first wanted to wake Jean up, since Grandisī talk about that mysterious were certainly interesting for him as well. For her tiny hero. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
