Misty had been flattered by what he said even though she knew it wasn’t heartfelt. She longed to ask Ash the same question but feared he’d be much more honest. How could she compare to people like Sabrina or her ‘sensational sisters’?

Casey sat down Indian style and sat Ash on her thigh, “Well we’re coming up to Viridian but Pallet’s only a day or two away right? I don’t mind the detour. After that though it’s off to Indigo Plateau!”

Ash nodded smiling, “I’m glad you’re sticking with us Casey, you too Sabrina. It’s great being able to travel with friends again.”

They entered Viridian and soon made there way to the other end of the city. They stopped at a hotdog vendor for lunch. Nothing special, just straight up hot dogs. If they traveled quickly they might be able to reach Pallet by nightfall. Ash’s mother would be so shocked. It warmed Misty’s heart knowing that Ash would soon be able to see his mother for the first time since the incident. He’d be able to put her fears to rest. Misty felt a good deal of affection towards Delia Ketchum. Not because she knew her too well, mostly because she was the mother of the boy she loved. Misty had met her a few times before and always gotten along great with her. There would probably be a big dinner for them when they arrived in celebration of Ash’s safe return.

The trip to Pallet wasn’t too eventful. A lot of bug pokemon trainers and collectors were out and about. Misty avoided them like the plague. She still had a great fear of bug pokemon. A few of them looked at the foursome weirdly, probably because they noticed a shrinkee riding on the shoulder of one of a reddish haired girl, talking and laughing.
