“Now ladies, I know that some of you are scared about this whole unbirth thing.” Nurse Joy said smoothly to all the nervous women in the room. Most of them nodded to what Joy had to say, while other nodded a little less certainly. After getting infected by the pollen last night, a lot of the women had been having strange erotic wet dreams that had kept them up all night. But some f the moral morally prude people were having trouble letting go of their moral codes.
“I find it disturbing that you want us to have sex with this child,” an older women in the back piped up. Joy sighed loudly, no matter how many years went by, there would always be the few who couldn’t drop their self-righteous mumbo jumbo.
“Sex and unbirth are two very different things. Although most find sexual pleasure out of unbirth, there is another feeling that becomes more contemporary in the person, empathy. When you are connected to another person though your body in such a way sex and age mean little. They became a part of your souls if only for a little bit. Philosophers have searched for the meaning of life since time started and I can tell you want I think it is. It’s the connection and contentment of having a conscious entity inside you.” Some of the women were mystified by what Nurse Joy was saying, they could not understand unbirth beyond the sexual aspect. However, the women who had been pregnant know what that was like, but never to such a degree.
“If one of you ladies are up to it, I’d like for one of you ladies to be the one to take this boy into his first womb in ten years. Do we have any volunteers?” Joy smiled sunny at the shocked looks on everyone’s face, including Max. The only boy present had thought that the one demonstrating on him would be the nurse, now he find out that it could be any one of these hundred something women. He no longer felt comfortable or safe; what if the woman that volunteers hurts him by accident or is ugly and mean? He doesn’t want to be in some old hags body for God only knows how long. He tried to back away slowly, but before he could make his escape, one of the women stood up.
“I’ve given birth once, I think I’d like to try the reverse.” The woman said under the stare of everyone in the room. Max looked at the older woman, she was easily as old as his mother, but she looked no older then twenty. Her purple hair and housedress seemed to fit her personality to the glove. One look at her face told Max that she was a kind and gentle person.
“Holy,” Max muttered taken by the beauty of the volunteer.
“Holy,” Misty muttered as well when she saw who had stood up. Misty’s outburst was one of shock, not wonder. She hadn’t seen that woman on the bus, if she had then they would of talked with one another. They had only met a few times, but that had been enough for Misty to get to know the older woman. She couldn’t say that they were friends only acquaintances. After all, you got to know your traveling companions parents, or in this case parent.
“I’m Delia Ketchum and I guess I’ll be unbirthing you today.” Max nodded dumbly, he hadn’t made the connection with the woman’s name and his traveling companion, he was too much in love to think clearly.
