She liked being able to eat something that tasted like meat but wasn’t actually meat. It was a dream for a vegetarian like her. She didn’t have to feel guilty about killing an animal.
But then they heard a helicopter above them. At first Mary thought that she was going to be under attack. But the helicopter began to get lower and it seemed to be a passenger copter. She gave out a sigh of relief and then she looked towards her parents. She knew what was happening.
“So I guess you’ve got to go now?” asked Mary.
“I’m afraid so princess,” replied Mary’s father.
“Oh that’s a shame. Can I have a little hug before you go?”
“Ok.”
Mary then gently gave her parents a hug. This lasted a few seconds and then she put them in the helicopter.
“Bye,” she said.
“Bye Mary,” replied her parents.
The helicopter then flew away and Mary waved at them. But after that she felt an emptiness inside her.
