"Did you know her?" asked Vanessa.
"No she died when I was really young and I can't remember her," replied Gwen. "But my dad has pictures of her. If I want to see her I can just look at the picture. There's even one with me in her arms."
"I bet they're prized possessions to your family."
"Yeah we wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Maybe World Peace and an End of wars. But definitely nothing else."
A little later Vanessa had to sit down to her first meal here. Unfortunately she had to sit away from the other students. If she had gotten too close to them she would have absorbed their powers and she would go out of control.
Instead only Cindy sat with her. Like always Vanessa could control one power close to her. But any more would be disastrous.
"Hi Vanessa," said Cindy.
"Hi Cindy," replied Vanessa.
"So how do you like your first day here?"
"Well it's been terrible and fantastic. The people here are great. But my powers are still out of control."
