The scientists worked around the clock for the cure for Tabitha. They had come up with something that slowed down her growth but nothing yet to stop it.
Tabitha kept growing and growing and growing. By mid afternoon her head was in the clouds and she was struggling to get oxygen. She feared that if she got so big that the oxygen at her level would be too weak and she would suffocate. And if she fell onto a populated area countless people would be crushed.
Her only comfort was that she had John to talk to. Without him she would have gone insane by now. But he was helping her keep her sanity. He even told her some jokes that put a smile on her face.
"What do you get if you cross a skunk and a boomerang?" asked John.
"I don't know," replied Tabitha.
"A bad smell that keeps coming back."
They both laughed. But her laughter now was so loud that it shook the ground. She couldn't help it but if it kept up she would accidentally start up a fault line that would be chaotic for Nevada and the surrounding states.
