As the pair got back to cave everyone was eagerly waiting for them. But they looked disappointed when they saw Rose empty handed. They wondered what had happened to them out there.
“Where’s the food?” asked Charlotte.
“All we could find was a single apple,” replied Rose. “I think there’s some kind of famine going on.”
“Great we’re going to starve like everyone else.”
“But there’s more. I seriously doubt that this storm is natural. It’s lasted way too long and I saw some lightning strike twice.”
“And lightning never strikes the same place twice?”
“Exactly.”
“So you think there’s more to come?”
“I think so. I doubt this storm will be leaving us anytime soon. It might cause some flooding in the lowlands.”
“That could kill hundreds.”
“But we’ll be there to save them.”
“Yeah we should be.”
