“If they do I hope he gets the maximum penalty,” replied Maria. “People like that deserve to be behind bars.”
“I know. But sometimes I think. What does it take to drive a person to kill like that?”
“I don’t know maybe something happened in his life. Or maybe he’s just plain psychotic.”
“Well let’s try and change the subject. It’s a wonderful day isn’t it?”
“Yeah the sun is shining the grass is green.”
“And it’s one of little Jess’s first days out.”
Jean sat down near the river and she put Maria and Jess on the ground. Jess moved about a little but Jean and Maria made sure that she didn’t fall into the river. She almost did but Jean was able to save her at the last minute.
“No Jess now is really not a good time to swim,” said Maria. “You can swim when we get home.”
“She’s cute,” replied Jean.
“But she can be a bit of a handful.”
