As the Leaf shinobi continued to fortify their defenses and heal the bonds between the people and Team Kakashi set out to use the scroll and subdue the three forcibly rouge ninja, Madara and Itachi were still fighting. The fight in its first rounds had consisted entirely of genjutsu. To any spectators it would've looked like the two Uchiha were simply staring at each other. Scenario after scenario of each other's deaths ran through their minds, clones fought, limbs were severed, scenery was destroyed, and other nameless terrible things chased the two fighters. Eventually Madara managed to push Itachi to the limit of genjutsu and forced both fighters back into visible reality. Itachi was breathing heavily, his body tiring more quickly than normal. His eyes flicked to the sides and three ninja suddenly appeared. Before Madara knew what was happening, the three ninja grew to twenty five, fifty, and seventy five feet piling on top of the oldest Uchiha one after another. The three giants swiftly moved aside following Itachi's mental orders. Itachi walked over to where Madara had been standing and found that nothing was there except a crater. He turned around and blocked the attack that came from behind Madara still quite alive. Madara laughed and said, "Well this has been fun, but it's all over now."

Madara jumped back and glared at the three giants in turn, his eye taking on the unmistakable look of Mangekyo. Within seconds, the three giants walked over to Madara and got behind him. Madara laughed again and said, "My Mangekyo holds the most powerful ability of any Sharingan. It has the ability to cancel any other technique used by a Sharingan. Any techniques you may use relating to the Sharingan fail if I so will it."

Itachi's expression remained impassive as he said, "You can't bluff me Madara. The technique used to create those giants was not a Sharingan ability. I don't know if what you say about your eyes are true, but I do know that you merely hypnotized those three. They are still under my control."

Madara shook his head and said, "You really think any jutsu you use could overcome the power of my eyes? You're a powerful opponent Itachi, but you're no match for me."

Itachi started walking forward and said, "We'll see."

His gaze turned to the other three ninja and their eyes locked. Slowly, the ninja started walking back toward Itachi. They were halfway to Itachi when Madara sighed and said, "And this is where I prove my eye's power."

Madara flashed his gaze upon the unfortunate ninja and they instantly walked back to him. It seemed his words had not been a lie. Madara's Mangekyo was stronger than Itachi's. Therefore his hypnosis was stronger than Itachi's. Not only that, but with all his eye techniques useless in the face of Madara and with no giants to help protect him Itachi was in serious trouble.
