It was bad enough they were losing members due to the Leaf ninja, now the remaining members were engaging in acts of treason and deceit. Now only three members of this once powerful and feared organization were left.
"Perhaps it is time that I make one of these scrolls..."
Yes, with his skill he would no doubt be able make a powerful scroll but who would he use it on? Could he still trust Pain and Konan? They had been the most loyal out of all the Akatsuki members, probably since they had the most control in the organization and he let them run the whole organization. Madara weighed his options as he entered the Akatsuki's hideout. Pain turned to look as he walked in and he said, "Did you find them Madara?"
Madara shook his head. "Wherever they are, they obviously don't want to be found."
Pain's eyes narrowed as he heard this. The two men just stared at each other, each trying to guess what the other was thinking, what the other was planning. Pain broke the contact first, turning back to Konan. "Very well. Then we should finish preparations for our attack on the Leaf Village. Once we do attack, we will destroy Konoha completely, leaving only the jinchuriki of the Kyuubi. After we destroy the village, we will move on to Suna and get the jinchuriki of the Shukaku sand spirit. The rest of the tailed beasts will fall one by one after that."
Madara slowly walked around the cave, listening to Pain talk. He was only half listening. He knew what Pain's plan was going to be. It was rather obvious. Madara had the instructions to make a growth scroll in his coat. He still wasn't sure if it was in his best interest to use it, but he was sure the giants of the Leaf Village had at least three giants that were far above Pain's height of 540 feet. If he did make a scroll it would have to powerful. Very powerful. It didn't help that Pain was starting to lose faith in him. Judging by his body language it seemed like he knew Madara was hiding something. Oh well. There would be time to deal with that later.
As the last of the Akatsuki planned their final attack, Teuchi was brought before Tsunade for questioning. Now that his last instructions had been completed, Teuchi had only one thing left to do before Itachi's control left him completely. Tsunade sat behind her desk listening as Teuchi retold the story of Itachi's life, confirming all the terrible events from his initial drafting as a double agent all the way to his own death at Madara's hands. The last thing Teuchi said was, "Itachi had been using me as a spy since he joined Akatsuki, hoping to keep an eye on Sasuke so that the elders didn't try and finish him off while he was away. He wanted it to be known that I was performing this task against my will and that I should not be punished for it."
Tsunade sighed and closed her eyes trying to take all this in. At least Sarutobi-sensei never agreed to the massacre Tsunade thought gratefully. It was all the elders fault. There's and Danzo's.
Teuchi suddenly sat up straight and said, "Excuse me Lady Hokage but why am I here again?"
Tsunade stared at Teuchi and realized he was telling the truth. Obviously Itachi's last vestiges of control were now gone. Tsunade assured him that she had just wanted to see him about some trivial matter. Within minutes he was gone back to Ichiraku to continue his business in peace. Tsunade folded her hands trying to keep her cool. Those bastard elders were liars. The worst kind of liars. They had been keeping secrets from the Leaf Village all these years. A coup...the Uchiha's had been planning on trying to take control of the Leaf Village by force. Those actions would've caused a mass civil war between the Uchiha and the other forces of the Leaf Village. Many would of died. Did it justify the massacre of the entire Uchiha clan? Itachi had thought so. So had the elders and Danzo. The Third Hokage had thought it was a bad idea. He hadn't wanted to go through with the massacre but the others overrode his own decisions. Regardless, it was all over. But the elders would have to answer to this. Tsunade got up and headed for their council chamber. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
