You remember a story of an ancient locket, a masculine amulet with the power to switch places between the giver and the receiver of the amulet. The last known resting place of this amulet was a mysical old pawn shop known only as "Swift's Pawn Shop." The sign on the shop you now see before you is the same. You also notice that the shop seems literally squeezed between two buildings, as if it suddenly magically appeared in an alley between two other buildings. You walk in.
The man behind the counter smiled at you as if he were expecting you. "May I help you, Miss?" He was neat and clean, wearing a black suit and red bow tie.
"I am looking for a men's locket," you say, darting your eyes around the unique shop.
"I know just the one," the man said. "You seek the magestic 'Amulet of Morpheus.' It is centuries old."
"Yes," you say, "that is what I was looking for."
The man goes to the back wall and opens a safe. He then pulls out the amulet and sets it on the glass counter. "It's priceless, though."
"I need it. How much do you want for it?"
"Normally I wouldn't part with it," the man said, staring deep into your eyes, "but for you, I would take $100 only, seeing how you are such a pretty lady."
You have exactly $100 in your bra. You turn and pull out the money, and then place the bills on the counter next to the amulet. The man takes the money and hands you the amulet. "Ma'am," he says to you, "what's your name?"
"Mary," you say.
"Take good care of it, Mary. Or should I call you John?"
Startled, you stare at the man who simply smiles. "Do I look like someone named John?" you ask.
"You certainly don't," he says with a wink. "Have a good night."
You leave the pawn shop, and quickly tuck the amulet into your bra. You turn, and notice that all there is behind you is an alley, with no sign that the pawn shop was ever there.
You walk all the way back to the house where "John" lies tied in bed. You unlock the door with the key and step inside. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
