Travis asked Jason how much he had gained since joining the fraternity.

“Well,” replies Jason, “I don’t know exactly - ten pounds anyway....I haven’t been on a scale lately.”

Travis replies, “Maybe you don’t want to know? That’ s pretty normal - the world is so fat-phobic, a lot of fat guys don’t want to know what they weigh. If you don’t know, you don’t need to worry about it. After all, knowing the numbers that turn up on the scale is overrated...”

“What do you mean?” asks Jason. “You’re getting all philosophical on me!?

Travis gave Jason a gentle belly slap. “Hey, don’t worry about it! If you don’t know what you weigh, the only question is, do you want to know? Do we find you a scale? Or, do we just go get you some clothes that fit? You’re gonna know how big your waist is, anyway, if you’re going to get jeans that fit - unless you want that to be a secret too. We could do that - I’ll keep track of how big your pants and shirt are, so you don’t need to know or worry about. You can just eat and eat, keep your frat brothers happy, and I'll keep you in clothes that fit. How does that sound?”

“Um, sure,” replies Jason, still uneasy.

“Or, you can know how big you are, how heavy you are, how big your pants are getting, and celebrate every increase in your size, the way I do. Either way is good, man, and you get to eat both ways. Make that, we both get to eat. Which do you want?”
