“Troy!” You hear her excited voice through the phone. You’ve had years of mixed reactions to her in the past but you’ve never been this excited to hear that voice of hers, and for a moment you forget all of the threats she’s made or the times that voice has sent chills down your spine. “How are you?” She asks.
“I need to see you.” You say. You try to avoid telling her what it’s about in case she sympathizes with Jackie. “Is there any chance you can come pick me up?”
“Depends.” She says as you start to quiver. “Can we hang out afterwards or are you going to take off like you do every time you need a favor from me?” She is right, you have done that to her before.
“No, no.” You say “Not like that.” You know that a promise is the only way to get her there. “We’ll hang out all night if you want. I just really wanted to see you.” You can almost feel her sly grin over the phone.
“I’ll be there in just a second.” She says “Just tell me where you are.”
