This story takes place in a modified version of our own world (same countries, franchises, etc). There is one very crucial difference though. Most of the world’s countries subscribe to a class system where women are the dominant gender.

Evolution has not been kind to males but women are a different story. Many women have gained the ability to swallow and digest large quantities of food, even people. This ability is known as the ‘swallowing’. Due to some fluke in nature male babies are far more common than female. Overpopulation and a lack of food threw the world into crisis. A new food source had to be found and something had to be done about the ever growing population. Luckily a solution was found. Men themselves were the solution. It was discovered men were both nutritious and delicious. Since the xy chromosome combination was much more common than the xx combination men could be eaten with little fear of them running out. By using them women around the world were able to kill two birds with one stone.

A century later males have become a lower class in almost every modernized country. Not only are they still used as food but you can now find them served at most fast food restaurants as well as have them delivered to your door. Though women without the swallowing are sometimes eaten too it is males who really have to watch out. It’s not uncommon for a male student to leave for school never to return or for a brother to be his sister’s first victim.

It’s a dangerous world where it’s eat or be eaten. So, who are you? A male just trying to survive or a female with the deadly ability?
