It's been several days since your step-father died. No one knows how it happened, but there were no signs of foul play involved. It was as if his time had come at last.

Try to get over the event, you rummage through the attic, looking for old mementos of your step-father. You find some old vinyls of Blue Oyster Cult and Led Zeppelin, and photo albums that look older than you. While some of the things you find are fond memories, many things show you a side of your step-father you never knew about.

You eventually run across a box of trinkets that is out of place. All the other boxes are cardboard, while this is a small wooden box. You find several things inside, but what catches your eye is a small amulet. It is a round silver medallion on a silver chain. It bares an eight pointed star on the face of it, placed like two squares aligned symmetrically.

Intrigued, you take the amulet and wear it around your neck. Once it settles, it begins to glow red and press against your chest. You cringe in pain as the amulet seems to bury itself straight into your heart.

Eventually, the pain subsides, and you notice the amulet has stopped glowing. Their is a large burn hole in your shirt, and the amulet is embedded into your chest. Somehow, the chain vanished as well.

The thing most extraordinary about this is you feel wonderful. You feel more alive with this, more powerful. Then you suddenly have visions of events that you know you've never experienced before. Then at last, you feel as if you had abilities beyond normal comprehension. Could this truly be real?
