You are a boy around the age of 12. Your name is Mart, which is short for Marty. And you've always had an interest in kangaroos ever since you were old enough to know what they are. An old friend of your mother's owns a nature reserve which specializes in taking care of wild animals, including kangaroos themselves. Some of them tend to keep to themselves, whereas others are rather curious and often like to come up to people visiting, giving out cute looks in a hope for food. You love going to this nature reserve and spending time feeding the kangaroos by hand. You often bring a few nice treats for them to try out, so it's no wonder that these animals have taken a liking to you whenever you're around.

But then one day, while you were feeding one of the baby joeys, you suddenly noticed a big female kangaroo quite close to you, having hopped up so quietly that you didn't even hear her coming. But the moment you looked up, the roo bent its head down and pushed its muzzle against your lips. Like a kiss. You were so startled that you fell back in surprise and the kangaroos immediately hopped away. That was a strange thing for an animal like that to do. You couldn't get over why it would do that, but you just dismiss it and go on with the day like nothing has happened.

However, during the end of the day, when you prepare to leave the reserve, you notice the kangaroo that kissed you is at the fence and gazing at you like it wants to be with you so much. You begin to feel uneasy, as something about that roo is making you think something is wrong. Could there be a reason why it kissed you, or is it just a strange reaction to the way you've been treating these animals?

You can't figure out what it is...until later that night, it happens.

As you're lying in your bed you begin to feel very strange. Your knees are beginning to feel stiff. And your hips feel a bit rounder than usual. Then suddenly, you notice two lumps growing under your duvet on the bed. You try to reach to pull it off, but your arms feel strange too; it feels like they're shrinking! Looking down, you gasp as you realize they are shrinking! And your fingers are melding together to become a strange set of black, curved claws. Then you notice a layer of fur growing out of the base of your hands and spreading down the length of your shrinking arms. You finally manage to take hold of the duvet and yank it off the bed. You discover to your shock that the lumps growing in your bed are actually your feet, expanding in size! They are now growing to three times their original size, with another set of black claws where your toes used to be. Then you feel your ears moving and your nose and mouth stretching. You jump out of bed, and fall flat on your face as you suddenly lose balance with your big feet. As you struggle to pull yourself up, you feel something stretching out of your butt. Then there is a ripping sound, and your pajama pants are suddenly ripped off your legs. You manage to get up and stumble across to your bedside mirror. You look through it and gasp as you see that your ears are now looming over your head, and have become huge and floppy. Your mouth and nose have expanded about a few inches from your face and begin to look more like a muzzle. The layer of fur has now covered your entire body, and your knees have become stiff, forcing you to balance unnaturally on your strange, grown feet. You turn around slowly and see that a tail has grown out as well. What remains of your pajama pants are hanging from the end of it.

After a few more seconds, the strange feeling completely stops, and you are left there staring in instant shock at yourself in the mirror. You are completely speechless at first, then after a moment, you finally say silently to yourself...

"I'm......I'm......a kangaroo."

You try to bend your knees, and you find your body bouncing unsteadily on your feet. You almost fall back, but you feel your tail pressed against the floor, holding you up. You blink a couple of times, expecting this to be some sort of dream. But when your new body refuses to disappear, you become convinced that this has really happened to you! And the first thing that enters your mind is...

"!!!WOW!!!"

You have turned into a real, live, young kangaroo! You're not sure how it happened, but you begin to think that your change must be connected with the nature reserve somehow. Perhaps you should get over there and find out what happened. But you've never gone out during the night. Perhaps it might be better to stay at the house until sunrise, and try to find out what happened then. But what would your family think if they saw you like this? It's a tricky decision...
