“Excuse me, Kagami?”

Abandoning the inane conversation for something that might be actually important, Kagami turned to Ayano, a classmate from her own class. The cute orange haired young girl stood nervously in front of her classmate, hands In her lap as she meekly looked at the smarter girl. Ayano was pretty girly, a lot more then any of the four friends. She wasn’t really part of Kagami’s circle of friends, but she was one of the few girls from her class she could stand.

“What’s up, Ayano?”

“Well, I was kind of hoping that I could borrow your notes from yesterday. I was talking to Misao during class and I missed what the teacher was saying. I’ll give them back to you when I’m done,” Ayano pleaded with her hands clasped together. Forcing down the urge to groan, Kagami wordlessly handed over her notes, something she did nearly every day for Konata or Tsukasa. It had gotten so bad that she now took down everything twice so she could study while her friends ‘borrowed’ her notes. Maybe she should start charging people, she could have enough money for college in no time flat.

“Seems like we found our volunteer,” Konata spoke up and chuckled darkly, making the girls take several steps back.

“What are you talking about?” Miyuki asked her evil looking friend.

“I’m going to prove miss know it all wrong. I’m going to prove that people can eat huge amounts of food in one bite by devouring Ayano. It’s perfect, she looks tasty and no one will miss her because she’s a minor character just like that Sebastian kid.”

“Hey!”

Ignoring the outraged male voice behind them, all the girls stared dubiously at Konata, having trouble imaging her eat a whole person. A million problems with what she had told them raced through Kagami’s head, but like before Tsukasa and Miyuki quickly ate up what Konata said after a few seconds of thinking it through.

“But won’t you, you know, digest Ayano?” Tsukasa asked, imaging the student digesting away inside her friend’s belly. It seems kind of cruel to her, especially because Ayano had never done anything to them. Sure, they didn’t really know the girl other then by the fact that she was in Kagami’s class, but to just eat her felt kind of wrong.

“You bet,” Konata said and licked her lips. She could almost taste that young girl and it was making her mouth water. She had never tried this, but she just knew that it was going to be fun. “Ayona is taking a full trip through my body and coming out my newly padded rear. Don’t worry girls, you don’t have to see that.”

“But isn’t that…murder?” Tsukasa asked in low voice, afraid someone would hear them. Konata looked at the younger twin, her mouth open as she tried to rationalize it. Surprisingly, it was Miyuki that came to Konata’s defence.

“If she’s eating her it isn’t really murder anymore then it is when a fox eats a rabbit. In the animal kingdom the strong eat the weak, it’s the natural order of things and even though we are far beyond being animals, it’s still the law of nature that we eat weaker animals. All Konata is doing is going after prey to feed herself.”

“Wow, who thought sweet Miyuki could be so cold,” Konata commented with a smirk. She hadn’t thought about it like that. For her this didn’t have anything to do with the law of the jungle, it was just a game to the little Otaku. She was going to devourer someone, beating them in the ultimate game of survival and proving she was the best. Miyuki’s explanation sounded a lot less selfish so she’d stick with that.

“What!? I’m not cold! I just read that somewhere and think its true!” Miyuki panicked as she looked between everyone while waving her hands around. Miyuki looked alarmed about her words being misinterpreted. She was still a kind person; she just couldn’t see the fault in someone eating another person. Of course no one thought she was a bad person. Konata had just been teasing her, Tsukasa was still trying to figure this out for herself and Kagami thought it was all bullshit anyway.

“Whatever. Listen, if you’re going to eat Ayano do it at lunch. Ayano usually eats with Misao on the roof, but she’s sick so you’ll have Ayano all alone. You guys can do this on your own, I’ve had enough of this silliness. Just don’t tell Ayano I told you where to find her, okay?”

“Kagami,” Konata softly said in a sad voice as her friend got up and began to walk towards her class. Without looking back, Kagami shook her head at how gullible her sister and friends were acting. It had to be a joke, it’s the only thing that makes sense. The tiny voice in the back of her head argued that maybe it was possible, but Kagami shoved that thought aside. None of it could be true.
