Templeton hadn't said a word to Wilbur since they had returned home from the fair. Mostly because he had fallen asleep, but also because he knew Wilbur wouldn't want to speak since Charlotte's death.
Templeton looked down at his stomach. It was as large as it had been when he had been at the fair, but it was still somewhat swollen from being stretched so far. But now it was time for Wilbur to go in on his end of the deal. Templeton had done his bit. Now it was payoff time.
Templeton left the barn and saw that Lurvey was emptying the slop bucket for Wilbur to eat. As he left, Templeton glanced over at Wilbur. Wilbur simply nodded for him to go ahead.
Grinning like it was Christmas, Templeton scurried over to the trough. Excitment was overwhelming, and it added to the motivation as he jumped up onto the side and dove into the slops with a SPLAT! Eating as if he hadn't in days, Templeton quickly began devouring noodles, corn, milk, eggs, bread crusts and bagels for a long time.
A half hour later, Templeton was finally full. Well, not really. He could've eaten LOTS more, but he decided since he'd eaten half, he'd better leave some for Wilbur. With a hefty belch, Templeton hoisted his bloated belly out of the trough and headed back towards the barn, leaving the pig to finish up.
Templeton grinned as he went to take a nap. A few more weeks of this, and he'd TRIPLE what he'd gained at the fair.
