Nala could tell Epesi wasn't enjoying being fat like she was, so at the next meal, she said, "you know, if you don't want all of that, I'll have some."
"Why," Epesi replied, "one of us'll have to eat it."
"Exactly," Nala said, "and I can tell you're not liking being big."
"Not like I have a choice," Epesi said, "anyway, I though you didn't like being fat."
"I didn't used to," Nala lied, "now I guess I'm used to it."
"Why're you offering to help me," Epesi asked.
"Well..." Nala reconsidered a moment, then went on, "it's kinda my fault you're fat in the first place."
"Come again," Epesi asked, "I don't think I got you."
"Look," Nala said, "remember when you first came in, you teased me and I didn't like it?"
"Yeah," Epesi said, "so?"
"So I kinda wanted to shut you up," Nala said, "I gave you some of my meat every meal, and that story I told about them ripping you're fur off, that was made up."
Epesi took a while to digest this, then said angrily, "you did this to me for revenge?"
"Look, I just wanted you to stop teasing me," Nala said, "I didn't figure you'd get so miserable and all."
"Well I'm not teasing you any more," Epesi said, "there, happy?"
"Not really," Nala replied, "look I'm sorry about it okay, but I'll make it up to you?"
"How're you going to do that," Epesi asked suspiciously.
"I'll help you get thin again," Nala said.
"Really," Epesi asked.
"Yeah, really," Nala said, "but you have to promise me one thing."
"What's that," Epesi asked.
"Promise me you won't bull me when you're thin again," Nala said, "I actually kinda like being fat, so don't spoil it, okay?"
