Nala was still fast asleep by early afternoon when Scar approached her. He smiled at her for a moment, then gently shook her, "wakey wakey."

"Mm," Nala murmured, "wha'?" Blinking several times, she looked around to find the source of the interruption "Scar?"

"Time to get up little lady," Scar said, "you've been asleep for some time."

Nala walked over to the edge and looked down, "can you um, can you help me down please?"

"Certainly," Scar replied, carefully lifting the cub off the ledge, but instead of placing her on the ground, carried her back to his cave, and set her down near the remains of the gazelle carcass she'd been unable to finish before. "Are you hungry," he asked, letting her eye the carcass.
