As much as Nala wanted to see her parents again, the smell of the antelope was too good for the cub to resist. She dragged herself over to the carcass and dug in, ripping off great hunks of the animal's flesh as though her belly wasn't already distended from the previous night's binge. As before, Nala quickly lost what little mobility she had, and it was up to the hyenas to make sure she was still able to feed herself.

The antelope carcass disappeared quickly, and when it was gone, Nala was immobilized but so drunk off the fantastic feeling of stuffing herself that she didn't realize it. She tried to push herself toward the exit on paws that only barely reached the ground, but didn't make much progress.

Seeing her struggle, Scar said, "Come now, Nala. That tiny antelope couldn't have filled you up. Have a bit more, won't you?"

The hyenas dragged a zebra up to her, and after that it was automatic. Nala had flipped her eating switch when she'd taken the first bite of the antelope, and now she couldn't have stopped if she wanted to. Not that she did want to: Eating beyond all rational limit was a euphoric sensation to her, and she would stop only when she couldn't force down another bite.

This morning, that point was midway through the zebra and, just as had happened the night before, she fell asleep as soon as her body realized that she wasn't able to eat any more.
