Nala was pleased to find that the kudu wasn't some weird fluke. More carcasses showed up on her denstep, at first a couple times a week, but gradually the frequency of the extra food increased to nearly daily. It always appeared when she wasn't paying attention, and never when her parents were around. She didn't have a clue who was sending it, but then, she didn't really care. Whoever it was, they were a really good person to keep feeding her like this, and if they wanted to stay all secretive about their identity, she wasn't about to ruin their game by trying to figure them out.

Much to her delight, the size of the animals increased quickly, until her mysterious friend was left a cape buffalo outside her den. That meant that Nala soon had no choice but to eat out in the open, since it would have been impossible for her to move an animal weighing nearly a ton. At first the public gluttony embarrassed her, but not many people were around, and anyway, by the time she saw her first buffalo, she was well past caring about what the rest of the pride thought.

She was still mobile, but only barely, and dragging her fat self to the buffalo was hard work. Good thing there were nearly 2000 pounds of meat there to help her get her strength back! Eating it wasn't too hard, thanks to her nearly limitless capacity, and it was the best, biggest meal she'd had in ages. Once again, her expanding stomach lifted her off her feet. She moaned with pleasure at her temporary immobility and increased her eating speed. She was so excited to reach true immobility that she could hardly stand it. No more walks with her mother, no more having to do things for herself...all she would be able to do would be eat and sleep. It sounded like heaven.
