Timon and Pumbaa were good company sometimes, but Kiara found that she had really enjoyed Grandma Sarafina's company yesterday, AND the delicious meal she had shared. Instead of heading out into the grass like she usually did, Kiara headed out to Sarafina's den.
The old lioness was still asleep, lying on her side, ear twitching, when Kiara bounded over and placed her hands on Sarafina's ample stomach.
"Good morning, Grandmother!" she shouted happily.
"Hmm? Oh... good morning, little one!" Sarafina raised her head, a pleased smile stretching across her old lioness face. "You came to visit me!"
"Of course... errr... I was hoping that maybe wee coulld... share breakfast?" Kiara suggested, none-too subtlely in her own ears.
"Of course." Sarafina got up and walked to the back of her little cave. "Now, let's see what the hunting party has left me..."
Kiara's eyes nearly fell out of her head when Sarafina dragged out what looked like the leg of a hippo, still quivering with fat. "I alwaysh ashk for the fatty piethes... they tashte sho much better than lean," she said around her mouthful. Plopping it down right before Kiara's nose, she continued with, "Remember, eat as much as you like, dear. There's far more here than I could eat."
"Thank you, Grandma," Kiara said, and tucked in. Just like last time she ate until her stomach was bursting, and sat back, feeling full and satisfied, her stomach bulging.
"Mmm... that was good."
"Oh... you're not finished already, are you?" Sarafina said, shaking her head. "You're just as bad as Nala was as a cub."
"Really?" Kiara said, not really knowing what grandma meant.
"She never finsihed her meals either. Oh well... I suppose I'll have to throw it out for the vultures..."
Kiara looked at the huge leg. It was bigger than her! She couldn't possibly eat it all, but maybe...
