Kiara's leg didn't recover as quickly as thought, and it took two weeks until Rafiki gave her the permission to walk again. Kiara was unsure since she had spent her time doing nothing but eating. The other lionesses felt sorry for her and brought her food so she had something to eat all the time she was awake. Supported by Nala and Simba Kiara was lifted up.

Kiara's belly touched the ground even when she was standing up. Her sides had spread out even more than before, making her all round. Her tail was thick and too heavy for her to lift. Her legs and neck had rolls all over and she couldn't move her legs as far as before. Her butt was very big and jiggly, and weighed her down. She started to walk, but only managed about 10 metres before panting with exhaustion. She sat down, her big rump lifting her from the ground.
"Phew...I'm...in...quite a...bad shape..." she said, panting.
"It's only normal, Kiara, since you haven't been able to walk in two weeks. You'll get in shape quickly as you take on your daily routines", said Nala.
"Kiara must be careful", said Rafiki," for her leg is still very weak. She must avoid stressing it too much. I recommend her to take it easy for a while and slowly putting more weight on the leg."
"So I can't really start exercising yet?"
"No, not yet. And you must be sure that your leg gets all the nutrients it needs to heal, so you must eat well."
"Well...I've been eating quite well lately, thank you...." muttered Kiara, putting her paws on her belly that spread out between her legs.

Nala talked to Simba outside the cave.
"Simba, did you notice how our princess has gained quite a lot of weight lately? Should we be worried?"
"Now now Nala, it's only normal for a cub to gain some weight now and then. Besides, she's the princess, she doesn't have to be in shape for hunting or anything, really. Her job will be to make decisions about Prideland, the physical work will be left for others to take care of."
"Well, if you say so. But I'll keep an eye on her, it's not healthy to get too fat."
"As you wish Nala, but don't be too hard on her, she's having a hard time with her leg".
