"What happened to you? My god, you've gotten fat!" Kiara looked down in shame--or at least, as far down as she could look with three fat chins impeding her.

"What's all the ruckus out here?" Sarafina said, coming out from deeper in the den. "Nala! It's wonderful to see you, dear."

"Save it," Nala growled. "What have you been doing to my daughter?"

"She's just been helping me finish my dinners," the older lioness replied calmly. "They always leave me so much food, you know."

"And she didn't bother to tell you she was on a diet, I suppose. Why didn't you tell me that you had her here?"

"Oh, she told me," Sarafina said, her voice rising. "Which is precisely why I didn't tell you where she was. It's unfair of you to restrict the poor girl's diet like you do. She's a growing girl, dear."

"She grew right out of being able to walk!" Nala exclaimed. "Mother, you know this can't be healthy for her!"

"I don't remember it having any adverse effects on another young lioness I could name..." Nala blushed at Sarafina's words. Kiara's eyes widened.

"Wow, mom, did you used to be fat too?"

"She certainly did," Sarafina said when Nala didn't answer. "She wasn't quite as good an eater as you are, though, and she lost all the weight when she reached mating age."

"Really? Why?"

Nala looked at her daughter, who was looking back up at her expectantly. She sighed. "I lost the weight because..."
