Nala heard the sound of Simba's pawsteps outside the den, and she bounded out to him.

"I found Kiara!" she said when she got close. "She was staying with my mother, not that Mother felt the need to tell me that."

"That's great!" Simba replied, obviously relieved. "Uh...how is she?"

Nala lashed her tail back and fourth, not knowing how to broach the subject. "I've realized that I can't stop her gaining weight if she wants to," she said resignedly. "So I've decided not to bother." When she finished speaking, she flinched, as if expecting Simba to yell at her.

"Good for you," he said instead, nuzzling her reassuringly. "If she's willing to run away to keep this up, trying to stop her will only make life more difficult for all of us. And remember that you weren't exactly a skinny cub, either," he said with a laugh.

"Hey!" Nala said, mildly offended. "First of all, I wasn't anywhere near your daughter's weight, and second, I lost the weight when I had to."

"More's the pity," Simba rejoined. "I thought you were pretty cute back then. Heck, you could stand to gain a few pounds now," he added, tapping her flat stomach with a forepaw.

"Are you saying you think I should gain weight too?" Nala asked disbelievingly.

"Not if you don't want to, dear," Simba said. "It was just a suggestion, but I know you can be sensitive about your weight."

Simba went inside to say hello to his daughter, and Nala considered what he had said. Should she try to gain some weight?
