Nala was pretty much worried over nothing. Kiara was still happy to chat with her mother, but she wasn't much concerned over the physical properties of anything other than food. Since coming home, she had continued with the lifestyle she'd gotten used to at Grandma Sarafina's. That meant eating nearly constantly, and that meant becoming very fat indeed.

Kiara had been more or less immobile when Nala had brought her back, but now her paws couldn't even touch the ground, resting instead on a thick layer of her own fat that was growing thicker by the day. The paws themselves were buried beneath the fat rolls of legs too fat and weak to have held her up even if they could have made contact with the ground. Her neck was a mass of chins, and her whole fat body jiggled whenever she made the slightest movement--which mostly involved biting and chewing.

In short, Kiara was in heaven. Why would she notice that her mother was gaining a little weight when her own gain was so much more pleasurable to focus on?

Nala realized this after a while, and was in fact a bit shocked by it. How could Kiara be so oblivious? Thinking about Kiara's situation made Nala consider her own. She'd gained a good bit of weight, after all.
