Nala knew that she didn't want to end up like her daughter--Kiara might have been okay with being an immobile blob, but Nala certainly wasn't. She decided that she had to lose the weight she'd put on. She felt a little bad about what Simba would think, but ultimately, she decided that her ability to feel good about herself was more important than making herself a little more attractive to her mate.

Therefore, she resolved to eat less and exercise more. She wasn't needed on the hunts, unfortunately, but she was still able to work out on her own.
