"They grew up just fine," Snarvar said, with a chuckle, which came from his throat. "Between them taking cattle without permission and making off with young men and women for their own needs, they give me no end of trouble."
"Do they ever, um, eat the people that they take?" you asked nervously.
"Only if the human tried to kill them," Snarvar said, shaking his head. "While many dragons may force a human to be their lover, no dragon would dare to eat a human without just cause."
"What do you mean by just cause?"
"Self-Defense, Defense-of-Another, If there are No Other Options for Food, Human was Already Dead, and of course, Execution."
"What does that mean?"
"If someone tried to kill me, I'm allowed to eat them. If they tried to kill you, I'm allowed to eat them. If there is no other options for food, allowable. If the person was already dead, it's sort of encouraged as it keeps down diseases, and other predators. And then there is for punishment for a crime."
"But what if a dragon did it without a just cause?"
"They'd be killed of course."
"Well, have you ever eaten any humans?"
