At the beginning of time, Izanagi-no-Mikoto and her husban Izanami-no-Mikoto decided to make the earth. They hurled down an jeweled spear which became Mount Fuji.

And they went down onto the land-mass and when Izanagi's foot touched Mt. Fuji other lands sprang up across the sea. And when They were both on the island Izanagi became the mother of the Japanese Kami.

Before long there came a great discord. The mischevious spirits, Darkness, Light, Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Lighningh, Metal, Wood, Animal, Psychic and Sound were running a mock of all that Izanagi and Izanami had created. So the Great Mother and Father locked them away inside the gemstones that had once represented their power with the Pact of Nai-obi, for all eternity. But the twelve spirits cried for repreive, and promised if they could have only one last chance that they would use it to the good of the newly created world, The mother and father considered, but told them this decision would take much deliberation.

For 50 years the spirits remained sealed in the pact without any promise of freedom, until The earth plane suddenly cracked open and the Twelve Great Daemons poured out, and began to lay waste to the land in a malicious manner. The terror that these Daemons spread was horrible to behold, they killed all the people in the newly created world and destroyed shrines and monastaries. Until one day the Kami saw fit to take action. The Kami and the lesser spirits, all but the twelve, bound together to form a powerful entity and did battle with the twelve Daemons. The struggle lasted for decades but at last the Daemons were subuded and returned to the void from which they came.

Exhausted from the battle the Kami and the spirits returned to their origional forms, and the Mother and Father returned to the twelve mischevious spirits, and told them that should the Twelve Great Daemons ever escape from the void again the Pact of Nai-obi that binds you shall break, and you will be able to pass into the after-life. But first you must give your powers to your mortal parallels, we will allow you to connect with the dream scape to find them.

And so for hundreds of thousands of years, the Twelve spirits waited, and tried to locate those whose souls were meant for their power.

****Modern Day****

There is a sudden rending sound and the twelve spirits are rattled within the portents of their jewel-like prisons. A great dark Fissure opens up and the Great Daemons are released. Suddenly there is a thunderous voice from the heavens chanting in Japanese. The bonds holding the Spirits in their suspended animation are broken and they fly forth to find those who need their power to save the world!
