“Just try it again!” the tiny girl demanded. Ana looked down at the shrunken Maria. As much as she wanted to grow Maria back to normal, so the two of them could get on with their lives, Ana didn’t think it was such a good idea.

“I’m sorry, “ Ana said. “I can’t do that. I mean, what if you shrink away to nothing?”

“I don’t care! Just fix this!"

Ana sighed heavily, trying to contemplate the best course of action. Maria was obviously desperate to return to her normal height.

Trying to please the demanding girl lying in her palm, Ana pointed the remote at her again and fired, discharging only a small burst this time, in case something went wrong.

But, of course, something DID go wrong…

Maria laid on Ana’s hand and closed her eyes, feeling a warm sensation course through her body. She expected to be returned to her original height in a matter of minutes, but when she heard Ana gasp far above her, she opened her eyes.

Maria was shocked to see her world expanding once again. “Ana!” she yelled up as loud as she could. But by now, her voice was coming through as nothing more than a few audible squeaks. “What’s happening?! Why am I still shrinking?!”

“I don’t know,” Ana’s voice boomed down in a concerned tone, as Maria instinctively covered her ears. “I told you what might happen.”

Maria watched in horror as the hand she was sitting on continued to expand before her in all directions.

Just how small does Maria get this time?
