"Your Highness I consider more prudent to direct our steps to Marr City."
"Make it so, my dear subject."
More easily said than done. You are still lost in the forest and under the maze of branches even following the sun is tricky. Yet you remember when you went for a hunt in the forest. It was a sport, but the survival skills learned then will serve you well.
Even so you spend the best part of the day wandering through the forest. When you come out tired and bruised, the sun has already started its decline.
Looking forward you are relieved to see the Royal Road of the East. The way, wide and well kept, is the one of the major trade routes of the kingdom. Its stone paved surface lead directly, after one or two days of walk, to Marr City. Way Inns, maybe the Lady Laura's temple - you are still not sure of where you are exactly - and a post of the Road Guards will be surely found.
To the south, a narrow, earth track probably leads to some small town or village. It could be Pellis town, a farming community of around one thousand souls. If it is so, it would not be very far away, maybe you will arrive before its palisade before the night if you hurry up. There you will find lodgment, new shoes and some basic gear, for a price.
Looking to yourself, your money pouch is almost empty, just 40 silver pieces, but your equipment has resisted quite well. The prince, however is not so lucky. His royal garment, still speaking of the grandeur of his class, is nonetheless torn in a thousand pieces and dirty. He has already discarded his shoes and his shirt hangs uneasily from his right shoulder.
And now you have to take a decision.
