When you fight for survival there is no place for the weakness of human nature. Or so you seem to think. You feel there is no option, resting now would mean nothing but a swift death. So you keep on, almost trawling the prince behind for an hour or so.
When you arrive to the hut you find it deserted, almost rotting in pieces. It still feels not safe enough, so you go on. But, not the prince; he finally falls. His fat thighs are covered with blood for the abrasion of moving leg against leg(¹), his lips are dry, no matter what you do he can't give another step more.
Undaunted you take him in your shoulders. Another 90 more pounds to add to your amour and kit. But you are a man, aren't you? You keep on, no matter what, no protest, no whine, no wimp.
Yet, even so, a man but only a man and not a god. Two hours later you fall into the ground, unconscious...

(1) This used to happen to me in real life when I was a boy, btw, after a long race. That's when your legs are fat enough they touch each other when you walk.
