January, the 3rd.

Today I am officially 12. Really what does that matter though. I feel the same today as yesterday: cold, miserable and lonely. I am still a child, who use to have his mom check for the boggy man in his closet, until she was struck down with the plague.
Mankind use to seem to have dominion over all creatures, but recently I have learned that bugs have dominion over us. I have had to scrape at the light socket to start fires to boil the germs out of my water. Even with my best efforts, the frigid January air batters me weak. Unless the environment which use to be tamed, takes any pity on me I do not see my life lasting any longer than a month.

January, the 3rd (evening).

This morning I thought I was alone in my struggle. If I was to have a chance at survival I needed to get a book on surviving the wilderness from the library. Any information I had was good information. If I was lucky maybe I could find a laptop and have a chance at communicating with the world.
When I reached the library I saw a faint light coming from inside. I crept up to the light. As I came closer I saw some of the books were on fire and that there was a shadow!
The shadow belonged to a 15 year old girl named Sarah. She said she had been living in the library for three weeks trying to escape the enraged mobs. I told her that all life in the city had already ceased to exist. As well I invited her to my apartment.
Things are looking bright!
