Light shines through the window ending the crises of Virus 0 after a siege of two months, leaving many dead. Tears stream down Mary's face, as she feels life responding in her arms. Her son awakens for the new day, healthy and vibrant, ready to give them Hell. The two fear that they are alone, many people surrounding them victims of Virus 0. She was told that Miguel's father died a week before on a business trip from the sickness. Mary is now frightened from advertisements of flabby bodies. How would she find another husband and father for Miguel with rolls of fat around her waist. She stands to compare the protruding belly with a wedding photo. "Well, there aren't any single men anyway. They are all dead from Virus 0. Well, there is Lynnette's husband. She may be sick from it. If she croaks, I could have that handsome, dashing and successful Wilcox. If she isn't sick, no would know. The police are probably all dead from Virus 0 or tainted doughnuts. I could just..."
"What are you saying Mom?"
Realizing the corruption in her words, she responds, "Nothing sweetheart. There aren't very many people in our town or nation for that matter. We will have to be multi-talented, filling many rolls." Facing reality, she adds, "We will have to do Daddy's work too. You are just a little boy, but will have to grow up fast."
The boy realizes his duty to be the man of the house and stands straight. His face sullen from the serious situation, he comments, "Father would go to work now. I am only 11 years old. He had a college degree and ran a water reclamation plant. There aren't many customers for Internet businesses. I can't drive Dad's car for necessities." The two stare at each other a moment and both have the same idea. Miguel blurts, "Mom, let's loot."
Laughing at the outrageous suggestion Mary responds, "Yes, we can do that, but this is only a temporary solution. We have a lot of work to do, to create a necessary product to sell plus maintain our home and transportation." Snickering looking at her manicure she adds, "You have to learn to repair the car. We may have to help others as well. Some people are better at some things. There are services we took for granted. No one will make TV dinners. Others that survived need to have the same idea or they won't have money to pay us. Everyone that survived must participate and do their part."
Suddenly the phone blasts startling the two. Mother and son stare at each other in bewilderment when Miguel breaks the silence asking, "Who could that be?"
