I awoke to the bright, crimson light of the sun. A new day. Immediately my brain computed the data from the previous day, and my eyes involuntarily flicked towards Mary. At first, I heard breathing, and hope filled my heart, but than again...fate is a dumb and cruel thing.
Mary was very well alive....but from the looks of it, no longer was she human. I quickly sat up, as quietly as possible on the spring mattress. I slowly slid out from under the warm sheets.
I was determined to remain with Mary, but at the same time, part of my brain told me to run away and forget about her. I couldn't do that. Mary was my friend, and I thought I might be able to make her normal again. I looked around the dull room, the only decoration was a picture of me when I was 10. I'm 11 now, and I'll be 12 tomorrow. I thought about the presents I could get myself without anyone around. Today was a good day....but I also felt like curling up and crying. I still hadn't forgotten about Mary.
I found some rope in the small closet at the very edge of the room and grabbed it. I tiptoed to Mary and put the rope around her, than took the left over rope around the steel back of the bed. I always sucked at knotting ropes. I tied it up as best as I possibly could and went out to search the building.
I hope Mary would be okay. Where will this story go next? Your choices are below...
