Medical Report Summary:

Patient suffered massive internal hemorrhaging (Brain and Stomach). Several rib fractures were also found but played no exceptional role in the death of Allen J. Porter. Patient lost vital life functions shortly after injury; recuperation was not possible.

“What really raises one's indignation against suffering is not suffering intrinsically, but the senselessness of suffering.” (Friedrich Nietzsche)

...However, if you one must die...

“It is a blessing to die for a cause, because you can so easily die for nothing.” (Andrew Young)

I am sorry. In the pursuit of meaning I diverted to far from the original intent of this story arc. Moreso, if I took the story itself too seriously then I have done a bad thing. Alas! forgive my mind, for it sees things in bits and pieces, separated by their own moods and rhythms, and does not consider their sum total. This is where my thoughts led me. Reading this far, I hope you enjoyed some of it. The only true explanation I can give for the way it ended here is that I'd been listening to Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson whilst I wrote it. But nothing is so clearly marked, the necessity of life and death, though we admit the possibility for these things in our own worlds, does not exist either way. Note that if the first, and ultimately happier ending, is not yet available then it will be in the near future.
