Chapter 36: On His Own   (ID #963045)
an addition by: Bruce Lee Gifford Jr.  More by this author

"No, I haven't," David lied. "What am I doing? Why didn't I tell him? If there is a demon out there, someone needs to do something about it and..." David thought, "But Morgana seems different. If she really is a demon, she acts nothing like Father Fredrick has told me they act like."

"Is something wrong, son?" Father Fredrick asked.

"No, I'm fine," David lied again. He had no idea why he did this. If Morgan was lying and just pretending to be nice so that she could lure him into danger, he wouldn't be able to handle her alone. So why was he lying? If Morgan was being truthful and she wasn't evil, then if he told people about her, they would kill her. Was that why he was lying to the priest?

"Don't worry, there is no giant demon in the forest, but if you're still worried, I can give you something. Wait here," Father Fredrick said before he left. When Father Fredrick came back, he had a wooden cross in his hand. He gave it to David and said, "This will ward of evil creatures such as demons."

"Thanks," David replied, "Bye, Father."

David left the church and thought about what just happened. "Morgana could actually be real, and she could be a succubus! However, how could she be? Bowhan made sure that there were no children of that giant demon. Unless, this is just a new giant demon. But if that's true, when did she come to live in the forest. Has she been here for a few years? Because Christopher has been saying there's a demon in the woods ever since the first one died. Then again, he could have been traumatized from his experiences and imagining a giant demon. If that's true, then the giant demon could have come here only a few days ago when my dreams started. But if Christopher was actually telling the truth, than this demon could have been here a very long time. But if that's true, why wouldn't it have attacked the village by now?"

David continued to ponder on the subject, "Morgana could most likely be a demon, a giant succubus. She seems so real in the dreams and I remember that first night when my shoulder was wet from her tears. If things in that dream could really happen, then she must be a succubus. When I told her where I lived, she came to visit me and left footprints. She knows where I live now, and that scares me. But while she was at my home, she could have done whatever she wanted with me, but she did nothing. Why did she do that?"

David thought back to when he talked with Morgana in his dreams, "She seemed so lonely and sad. She didn't act like a wicked demon. Instead, she seemed like a good person. A sad outcast, but a good person. Unless, this was all an act. Demons are supposed to be good deceivers, but I can't believe that a demon could be that good. She seemed real and sincere. I looked like she was not lying."

"I have to figure out once and for all if Morgana is truely a giant succubus and if she's evil. It will be dangerous, and I should really tell someone this, but there is something in my gut that's telling me that Morgana isn't like the other demons. I will met her in my dreams again and confront her. I should keep this cross close. Maybe it can enter my dreams with me. Though, it might be best for me to stay in town instead of go back home. If she doesn't enter my dreams and tries to capture me while I'm at home... I don't want to know what might happen. If I sleep in town, and she kills me in my sleep through the dream world, maybe the town will start suspecting something is wrong," David thought.

It was decided; David found a place to stay at a tavern for the night and bought a room. David stayed the whole day in the village and when it grew dark; David sat on the bed and thought about what he was doing. "I must be fucking crazy," he thought to himself before going to sleep.
