Meanwhile the 3rd string quarterback Matt was silently watching. He was a freshman but a quick learner. And he was surprisingly more mature for his age socially. Although he was not that strong yet, he was quick like a ballet dancer. Since his middle name was Art, his nickname was the Artful Dodger. And he sort of liked it yet he knew that he was not quite ready to lead a team. Also Matt hoped that he never would make Amanda mad at him. When Amanda walked in his direction, he shivered in nervousness and just gave her a ' Thumbs Up ' to show her his approval of her being on the team. Amanda smiled back on her way to the parking lot.

Meanwhile Jack was waiting for Amanda in the parking lot. He had a surprise gift for her ( a $20 gift certificate to her favorite clothing sore). He wanted to calm Amanda down since he heard about Steve's antics. The grapevine news did spread quickly. When Amanda arrived, Jack and her exchanged quick greetings while he gave Amanda the envelope with the gift certificate. Suddenly both of them heard Steve say to Jack "Hope you are not thinking that Amanda will be on the weightlifting team too."

Amanda noticed the crowbar in Steve's hand and braced herself for a fight. But Steve did something that Amanda was not expecting.
