The figure in the chamber slept the sleep of ages.

When base alarm klaxons began sounding, it continued to sleep. As scientists and guards scurries about the room to erect defenses that would soon be tested to their limits, he took no notice whatsoever.

When high calibre automatic weapon fire began outside the walls, accompanied by the deep resonant boom of large bore cannons, it still did not disturb his peaceful slumber. Nor did he notice when, after some loud explosions, the sound of gunfire was replaced by the sound of deep, melodious feminine laughter.

His sleep was not upset by the sound of metal being stressed beyond it's limits as a figure, even bigger than himself - but distinctly feminine - tore back the reinforced titaniuum steel panels that this building was made from. The massive figure then brought both hands together with superhuman force creating a shockwave that knocked out the hastily prepared defenders in the room.

Silence reigned then as the new arrival looked at him in his chamber then raised a fist and smashed the chamber open. This, at last disturbed his sleep - but he was only beginning to wake as a beam of energy struck him, sapping his strength - shrinking him down to mere human dimensions, but still cursed with his scaled skin and finned head.

The new arrival smiled evilly at the now small man - and then winced in pain as the bases commanders had finally brought to bear the weapon meant to stop the hulk - the gamma cannon. A second blast not only staggered the newly arrived behemoth but smashed her against the far wall. She was having obvious difficulty getting to her feet.
