Unknown to the various combatants on the field, Beth had been born with a metahuman ability. In the future her unique power would be described as "Deceptive Karma" as it was best described in relation to the western understanding of that philosophy.

This power manifested in two ways. First, no matter what act Beth takes, it earns her good karma - and the universe rewards her in it's attempt to maintain it's inherent justice. Second, no matter what happens to her the scales of balance treat it as a negative occurence - and so the universe gives her good things in an attempt to maintain it's inherent balance. Of course, as her power causes all these rewards to fall on the negative side of the scales the universe sees her as even more out of balance and needing more and greater rewards.

When her power had first manifested itself at the onset of puberty it's effects were minor - but as time passed and her Deceptive Karma built - better and better things happened to her. The universe, for example, bestowed upon her the gift of beauty - and with each passing year it bestowed the gift in even greater proportion to try to balance the apparent negatives in Beth's life.

As a reward for ditching her friends and stealing their boyfriends Beth excelled in school with only a minimum of effort. When Amanda had discovered the gun, it was her Deceptive Karma that caused Amanda to choose Beth first for testing - and the same power caused her to grow sexier from the assault. When Beth's gun granted powers reached the level that would allow the draining of other beings it was her inherent power that caused Superman to be the first on scene to stop her.

When Superman and Captain Marvel arrived to intervene, Beth's inherent power brought Amanda into the fray to give Beth even more power. And now, with all these good things happening to Beth so quickly, her power tipped the scales so far out of alignment that even greater rewards lay in store.

Amanda figured out how to use the gun to bestow Beth's aura on someone else and toyed with the idea of giving it to herself - but something stopped her from doing that - it would be better to give this kind of power to a true hero like Superman. Yes - that was it - blast Superman - he'd then be able to drain Beth. Not only would she stop Beth, she'd make Superman an even greater hero.

In one of those rare flashes of insight - the type that lead to the invention of the Flux Capacitor - Amanda realized that by using the two guns together she could give Superman an even stronger aura than Beth had - she could make it so that he would gain even more power than he drained from Beth. That would definitely swing the fight in his favor quickly.

And so, Amanda rushed outside to see Beth floating in the air, twirling the two strongest men in the galaxy in her hands like batons - only needing the strength of her fingers to keep them under control, not even a tight grip from her hands. Amanda was momentarily awestruck at how much power Beth possessed - but she maneuvered herself into a position where she had a clear shot at Superman and waited until Beth stopped twirling him about so furiously.

Finally she got her chance as Beth brought the spinning heroes to a stop.

"Well, I see you boys still have your Super-Stamina which is good - cause if either of you had puked on me you would have learned just how much stronger than you I truly am."

Amanda carefully lined up her shot.

"Why don't we take this to the ground - where you can kiss my feet properly?", Beth asked her captives.

Amanda fired - at precisely the wrong instant. She fired just as Beth brought the two heroes above her head to throw them at the ground with earthquake causing force - and where moments ago the twin beams would have struck Superman, they instead struck Beth. Her grip tightened on her captives as the energy poured into her - crushing the bones in superhuman wrists to powder.

The aura around her body returned and quickly extended out over the bodies of Superman and Captain Marvel - glowing so brilliantly that Amanda had to look away.
